I’ve recently had the honor to work with the upcoming online store and community website Snatch That!. They asked me to create an introductory video and design a logo.
The client wanted a Google like intro, with simple animation and a fast pace. They wanted to convey the idea that their website solves several solutions, such as saving time and money.
The design is simple. Through this it represents the simplicity of the website it introduces. The characters, a student, a loving grandmother and a businessman, represent a variety of people in our society, implying that the client’s solution is for everyone.
I used Flash for the design and animation. I exported it to image sequence and put it through After Effects to tweak the shots and make several combinations in addition to adding the sound.
I’ve been working lately on my website Yair-Mor.com. I played with some ideas (which you can currently see on the site) but I eventually decided to discard them. The final idea takes my robotic kinda guy Hobby and puts him in a more sci-fi environment. He will get out of a giant cube and operate an oversized film projector, which will show video clips and demoreels.
So far I’ve been experimenting with several special effects on 3ds max and After Effects. I guess I’ll have to composite everything eventually to create a kick ass animation.
So here’s the storyboard. It’s just a general idea. While the environment will be heavily inspired by science fiction franchises like Starcraft, the main character, Hobby, will be heavily inspired by slapstick animation, The Neverhood style (accidentally, both of these games are my favorites).
And a few WIPs of the cube:
A test of the door’s animation:
And a few renderings of the projector:
These are all just previews, not a complete work. I will update as soon as I have more to show!
This is the blocking stage for a shot that will appear as an intro to my upcoming website. At the end the projector will project the site interface on the screen.
Final rendered shot. Hobby, the main character here, is my first rig in 3dsmax and a continuous project. I always add more features to his rig and then test them by doing some animation. I rendered it using vRay.
Like it? I will post a lot more like this so stay tuned (i.e. subscribe to RSS or friend me on Facebook. All the links are on the sidebar).
